The H2GLASS project officially kicked-off from 24th to 26th January 2023 in Ljubljana, Slovenia! It brought together industry leaders, experts, and partners with a common vision to revolutionise the glass manufacturing industry by adopting hydrogen-based technologies.
The event was hosted at the Austria Trend Hotel in Ljubljana and the premises of Steklarna Hrastnik, a prominent glass manufacturer and project partner of H2GLASS. The kick-off meeting focused on introducing the participants, discussing the project’s objectives and work plan, and setting the groundwork for a sustainable future for the glass industry.
Day 1 – Tuesday, 24th January 2023
The meeting began with a warm welcome from the H2GLASS Coordinator, Chiara Caccamo, followed by a presentation by the Project Officer. All partners then followed to present their contributions to the project.
Technical work packages (WP) presentations commenced, covering key aspects such as energy efficiency, hydrogen integration, and sustainable manufacturing processes.
The day concluded with a workshop on gender dimensions of the R&D project, emphasising the importance of diversity and inclusivity in the project’s implementation.
Day 2 – Wednesday, 25th January 2023
The second day saw participants heading to Steklarna Hrastnik for an immersive factory tour. The demonstrations provided insights into the practical applications of the project’s objectives and fostered lively discussions among the partners.
After the factory tour, the focus shifted to the Safety Plan, an important aspect of the project.
A team-building experience marked the evening, strengthening relationships among the participants and promoting collaboration throughout the project.
Day 3 – Thursday, 26th January 2023
The final day began with the Communication & Dissemination workshop, led by Steinbeis Europa Zentrum to maximise the impact of the project activities and outcomes.
Then, a detailed review of the electrolyser configuration was presented by SENER. The discussions covered the current status, specifications, trials planning, and risk mitigation actions.
Last but not least, the coordinator took the floor again to address general administrative information, reporting, and payment processes.
Conclusion
The H2GLASS Kick-Off Meeting was a great success, setting the stage for an exciting journey towards sustainable glass manufacturing. The event provided a platform for meaningful discussions, insightful presentations, and fruitful collaborations among partners, making it evident that H2GLASS is on the path to transforming the glass industry for a greener and more prosperous future. As the project progresses, the team looks forward to achieving its ambitious goals and contributing significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from the glass sector and more generally – the decarbonisation of our share future.
