Ely’s European Adventure: A Colouring Book Bringing Green Hydrogen to Life
January 20, 2026 | Blogs | News
How do you explain green hydrogen, decarbonisation, and industrial innovation to children in a way that sparks curiosity rather than confusion?
In the H2GLASS project, we found an answer: a colourful European adventure led by Ely, our friendly mascot who guides young readers through the world of sustainable glass production.
A Journey Across Europe
In this newly released colouring book, Ely embarks on an exciting trip across Europe to discover how the glass industry can become greener. Joining Ely on this mission are Chiara and Marta, the project coordinators who appear as characters in the book. Together, the trio travels to:
Their goal? To help produce green hydrogen, a clean energy source with huge potential, and to show how it can fuel glass furnaces on‑site, reducing emissions significantly and supporting Europe’s shift toward a climate‑neutral industry.
Explaining Decarbonisation Through Play
The colouring book is part of H2GLASS’ broader strategy to build social acceptance and raise awareness around hydrogen technologies. While adults often read technical reports and policy documents, young audiences learn best by engaging their imagination.
This is exactly what the book aims to do:
- make complex concepts simple,
- make climate action feel positive,
- and make hydrogen technologies more familiar and friendly.
By following Ely’s adventures, children (and the adults reading with them) get an accessible introduction to how hydrogen can help reduce CO₂ emissions and support a greener future for the glass industry.
A Multilingual Tool for Education
To reach as many young readers as possible across Europe, the colouring book is currently available in three languages:
Schools, families, and educators can easily use it to spark conversations about sustainability, innovation, and the role hydrogen will play in shaping tomorrow’s industries.
Why This Matters
Creating social acceptance for hydrogen starts early. When children and their families see hydrogen not as a mysterious or risky idea, but as a helpful friend like Ely supporting cleaner factories, safer energy, and a healthier planet, we take an important step toward a more climate‑friendly Europe.
The colouring book is more than an educational tool:
It’s a reminder that the energy transition belongs to everyone, including the youngest among us.
